As the title states, I have a 22RE in a 1989 Toyota Pickup with 183,000 miles, which I picked up at auction, that must have had an undiagnosed head gasket issue. About 50% of the time I start the car after periods of rest, the engine idles roughly on 3 cylinders for a minute and then smooths out. The PCM injector pulsewidth calculation also uses the INT and BLM correction factors based on O2 sensor feedback when it is in closed loop. O2 sensor correction is not used in open loop. Note that there are 2 kinds of open loop. Right after a cold or hot start, a scan tool will report that the PCM is using open loop fuel control.
